Book - Made to Kill
Raymond Chandler meets Philip K. Dick in the start to a new series from acclaimed author Adam Christopher, announced by Titan Books...
Set against the backdrop of 1960s downtown LA, Made to Kill combines classic crime noir nuances with a steel cyber-pulp edge in a dazzling start to a new series from Christopher.
Ray is the perfect detective – tireless, logical, and efficient, with a knack for wry one‐liners. He’s also the last robot on Earth – turns out people just don’t like robots, even if they like the idea of them.
As the lone employee of the Electromatic Detective Agency – except for Ada, office gal and supercomputer, the constant voice in Ray’s inner ear – Ray prefers to stay out of sight. So when a familiar-looking woman arrives at the agency wanting to hire Ray to find a missing actor, he’s inclined to tell her to take a hike.
But she has the cold, hard gold – and Ray was programmed to make a profit. Plunged into a glittering world of fame, fortune, and secrecy, Ray uncovers a sinister plot that goes much deeper than the silver screen – and this robot is in the wrong place, at the wrong time.
Stretching from the glittering Hollywood Hills to the murky LA underworld, Christopher masterfully explores SF concepts of collective consciousness, paranoia and mankind’s fragile relationship with technology, packaged together with the fast-‐paced action and high-‐ stake thrills of the hardboiled crime classics. Made to Kill is a genre-‐ defying novel that, as Publishers Weekly describes, “will please fans of both gumshoes and laser beams.”
Adam Christopher is a novelist and comic writer, and award-‐winning editor. The author of many novels, Adam is co-writer of The Shield for Dark Circle Comics and author of the official tie‐in novels based on the hit CBS television show Elementary. Born in New Zealand, Adam has lived in Great Britain since 2006.
