Before I start waxing lyrical about my love of messrs Tyler, Perry, Whitford, Kramer and Hamilton there's a few truths we all have to face:

There won't be any songs from Toys in the Attic in this article. It's a perfect album. If you need an article from me to remind you of that then I pity you.

Aerosmith haven't produced a truly great album since 1993's Get A Grip. Following albums have all contained gems but haven't been consistently brilliant.

At some point between Night in the Ruts and Rock in a Hard Place the band seemed to only try and write stadium anthems and some of the more bluesy or, dare I say, even experimental stuff disappeared completely.

That being said there's nothing wrong with stadium anthemic songwriting and at least Aerosmith haven't sat on the laurels and only toured old material like the Stones, The Who, or Pink Floyd. They've at least tried to do original material throughout and you have to admire that. Also, I've seen Aerosmith in stadium and festival form and I'm a richer person for the experience. Sadly 2017's tour will be their last and I really hope I get to see that final goodbye. Today I want to celebrate that stadium style and remember five songs from the 80's and 90's that might not be as musically technical as earlier work but still get you bopping along to the radio or smiling through a concert.
