One love, forty years, and always a cup of tea.
Lupus Films’ eagerly-awaited animated film version of Raymond Briggs’ much-loved graphic novel Ethel & Ernest is to receive its World Premiere at the 60th BFI London International Film Festival. Director Roger Mainwood’s lovely animated feature will premiere at Curzon Cinema Mayfair attended by cast on Saturday October 15th and a screening and Q&A at Haymarket Cinema on Sunday October 16th.
Based on the award-winning autobiographical book by acclaimed British author and illustrator Raymond Briggs, this hand drawn animated feature film is an intimate, engaging and affectionate depiction of the life and times of his parents. The film follows Ethel and Ernest, two ordinary Londoners, from their first meeting in the 1920s, through the tumultuous events of the 20th Century from the Depression and World War 2 to post-war prosperity and the swinging 60s.
The voices are instantly recognisable too with Jim Broadbent and Brenda Blethyn as the Briggs parents and Luke Treadaway as Raymond himself. Other stellar names on the cast list include Pam Ferris, Virginia McKenna and June Brown.
