SotD - Saturday Throwback: Robbie Williams
For this week's SotD Saturday Throwback, Steve Taylor-Bryant gets the advice not to tango in Las Vegas with a monkey. Yes, it's Robbie Williams...
With the ego himself, Robbie Williams, having a new album released on November 4th conversation at AlbieMedia coffee mornings has been of a Robbie flavour recently. Some adore the showman and his songs, others can't abide the man. Me? I don't watch chat shows, I don't read newspapers or gossip magazines, and if I'm truly honest? I don't care enough about folk to get emotional on any level about anyone. I do however love music and Robbie divides opinions. Personally I love the showy pop trash, others the ballads, some the swing. Whatever brand of Robbie you like you won't be able to miss the new album as it will be everywhere. I like the title track, The Heavy Entertainment Show, which has that old school Robbie pop vibe about it, I'm not that keen on the first single, Party Like a Russian, which feels lazy and too slow, but then I liked Take The Crown as an album so what the hell do I know. One thing I am sure of though and that is... Escapology is the best release of his. Not one weak tune, some classic sounds but also a couple of risks, and a song about drugs and a Vegas loving primate. Ladies and gentlemen... Me and My Monkey!
When I say drugs you say booooo...
