SotD - Drahla
Neil Gardner is a bit of an audio guru, being the brains behind an award winning spoken word production company. But sometimes he likes to retreat from the digital studio to listen to some music analogue style, on vinyl. This time it's a single from Drahla...
Format: silver 7″ vinyl
Side A: low bassline with an air of Scott Pilgrim about it. Questing female lyrics slathered with a Cure-like guitar sound. Beat poetry partners with a sad screaming saxophone, spoken word performance from an intimate club. A protest of pain and anger that asks Is It Real?
Side B: more Cure-like guitar and bass encouraging an I Want Money female vocals. Atheism meets indie dour with strains of Neil Remnant, sudden uplift with distorted bass, a plodding but insistent slice of indie pie.
Finyl Thought: kick on the distortion pedal and crank the angst up to 11
