SotD - Cassels

Neil Gardner is a bit of an audio guru, being the brains behind an award winning spoken word production company. But sometimes he likes to retreat from the digital studio to listen to some music analogue style, on vinyl. This time it's a single from Cassels...

Format: white 7″ vinyl

Side A: rhythmic street poetry that slaps you in the face with its raw message. A truly mysterious but marvellous melange of heavy percussion, raw vocal passion, rutting guitars and whimsical time changes. Part punk, part Urban poetry…this is a wonderful portion of street level preaching well worth your pennies and dimes.

Side B: a big large humongous layer cake of Muse-esque guitars and tub thumping drums. Dissonant and disturbing. More Ed Sheeran like vocals but with much more indie credibility and soul. There’s an off-kilter rhythm that both fights with and encourages the in your face vocals. Experimental but assured. One of the most refreshing tracks I have heard in years.

Finyl Thought: preaching to a choir of booted and suited indie street nomads
