Turn That Noise Down - Killing Joke
So many well-known albums turn 30 this year and Steve Taylor-Bryant and Susan Omand travel back to 1988 to revisit some of the sounds of their youth that made parents shout "Turn that noise down!" This week it turns out that Steve didn't remember Outside The Gate after all...
Oh dear me. I was initially excited when I saw a Killing Joke release on the list for our Turn That Noise Down project and threatened to throw a proper hissy fit if it wasn’t left to me to review. Strangely, Susan didn’t even put up a half-hearted fight, that should have been clue one that this album wasn’t the one I thought it was. Turns out that in my head I thought I was going to get to review something seminal or at least good, like Night Time or What’s THIS For...! Something with provocative lyrics and a real thumping tribal drum sound. Outside The Gate is just really bad.
I’m supposed to find something positive to say, try and find you good people a video or a snippet that you can bop along to. I can’t do that to you, no, not even you. Avoid this record, and someone come bleach my ears.

If you really must buy the record, it's available on Amazon. So is ear bleach.
