Today at the Proms - Prom 56

Continuing our daily coverage of what's on at The Proms 2018, Susan Omand has a quick look at the programme for Prom 56: Mozart & Bruckner ...

Just a couple of longer pieces in tonight's Prom. Starting at the end we have Bruckner after the break and his Symphony no 5.  No, I didn't know this work at all until I sat and listened to it and was MOST surprised to hear the White Stripes Seven Nation Army theme kick in for 30 seconds! Who knew that Bruckner had such great music taste in 1875. Listen...







Before that though we have marvellous Mozart and his Piano Concerto No 21. It is said (although I don't know how true it is) that a Neil Diamond song is inspired by the very famous Andante.
