Audio - Sherlock Holmes: The Fiends of New York City

The game's afoot once again! Sherlock Holmes is knee-deep in transatlantic trouble in a brand-new full-cast audio drama, due for release in May by Big Finish Productions...

Press Release

Nicholas Briggs and Richard Earl are back as Holmes and Watson in the suspenseful sequel to The Seamstress of Peckham Rye (winner of Best Audio Drama at the 2022 Audie Awards).

BAFTA-winning actress Juliet Aubrey guest stars as the mysterious Seamstress, finally emerging from the shadows, along with Lucy Briggs-Owen (as Genevieve Dumont) and Tim Bentinck (as Sherlock’s brother Mycroft).

Summer, 1901. For days, heat has been rising. London swelters; a long-expected storm promises to break.

In Baker Street, Sherlock Holmes, is visited by a peculiar American who arrives with a warning about a strange new kind of murderer. In the West End, Dr John Watson is watching his wife, the actress, Genevieve, prepare for her greatest role to date – only for her to be confronted by a terrible ghost from the past.

There are surprising connections between these events, a web of apparent coincidence which soon draws in others: Colonel Sebastian Moran, Mycroft Holmes, a dangerously ambitious young politician and – waiting patiently for the moment to finally make her move – the mysterious organising power at the head of the underworld, the Seamstress of Peckham Rye.

Producer Emma Haigh said: “It’s great to be back in the world of Holmes and Watson. This story ties up loose ends and the teasers from The Seamstress of Peckham Rye and The Master Blackstone Grange with Holmes and Watson being tested once again. It was wonderful to record this with such an enthusiastic and talented cast who did a grand job recreating Victorian London on a virtual recording.”

Actor Nicholas Briggs added: “Once again, I had a hugely positive reaction to the script. Why wouldn’t you love it? There’s just so much interesting stuff to play. There are big confrontation scenes with the Seamstress which have been a long time coming. There’s also the intricate stuff about Watson and Holmes’ friendship.

“This is when Holmes really gets on the trail of the Seamstress and he gets caught up in something that’s really just been set up to fool him. He’s drawn into it but you get the sense that he’s a little bit wary and suspicious.”
