Film - The Big Man

Plumeria Pictures announce the upcoming HD Blu-ray release in February of the 1990 classic film The Big Man ...

Press Release

From Stephen Woolley, producer of Mona Lisa, The Crying Game, Carol and Living, and David Leland, co-writer of Mona Lisa and director of Wish You Were Here, comes a no-holds-barred adaptation of William McIlvanney’s gritty novel The Big Man, starring a pre-Schindler’s List Liam Neeson, Joanne Whalley-Kilmer, Billy Connolly, Ian Bannen, Hugh Grant and Peter Mullan.

Neeson gives an extraordinary performance as Danny Scoular, an unemployed miner encouraged by his best mate (Connolly) to compete in a bare-knuckle boxing match staged by ruthless mobster Matt Mason (Bannen), against the wishes of his wife (Whalley-Kilmer). Scoular soon discovers, however, that there is more to the fight than meets the eye – and finds himself among the denizens of a criminal underworld lurking beneath a polished, sophisticated upper-middle class façade.

Restored in the UK and presented on HD Blu-ray for the first time, The Big Man (aka Crossing the Line) also features a memorable score by legendary composer Ennio Morricone.
